This section contains answers for frequent questions regarding the registration process of Backup4all.

FBackup is a freeware backup program developed by Softland, the same company that makes Backup4all. FBackup has limited features in comparison to Backup4all, thus if you need the extra features you can upgrade to it. This article explains how you can import the backup jobs (and schedulers) in Backup4all from FBackup.

A continuous backup is a backup that will run every hour all day long, every day of the week without the user intervention. This can be done in Backup4all if we set a scheduled task to run daily and repeat the task every 1 hour for 23 hours a day. As a protection measure for the disk space used, we recommend the Smart backup type which will automatically delete older versions of the backup in order to fit in destination.

To create a backup plugin for a specific program, you will need to install the Backup4all Plugin Creator and also another application that will monitor the 3rd party program installation. Using the information from the monitoring program, Backup4all Plugin Creator will generate an XML file (backup plugin) that can be loaded in Backup4all as a Predefined Backup. Please note that advanced computer skills are required to create a backup plugin.

You can backup your data from external drives using Backup4all. If you have multiple computers in your network and want to back up all of them from the server, you can set up the backup using Backup4all. Network administrators can install Backup4all on a single computer using a single registration key. All workstations can be backed up from there.

Backup4all can create an exact copy of a source drive to another destination drive, using the Mirror backup type. It should be used only for data files backups and not for system backups. Please note that Backup4all cannot back up the system drive nor the OS.

Backup4all supports file encryption for backup types using zip archives (smart, full, differential, incremental, mirror with zip). The Create Shortcut window can be opened from the File->Create Shortcut... menu item or by right-clicking the backup job from the backup list and selecting Create Shortcut...
