Lockergnome feature

Backup4all is a bargain

"Backup4all lives up to its marketing claims. It’s versatile, has all the features you need, and is easy to use. The beginner can easily get a good backup the first time. And the professional can tweak the program until his backup hums along exactly as he wants it to. It runs on every Windows OS from 95 to XP, too. From $25 - $45, depending on the version you buy, Backup4all is a bargain."

ProNetworks review

A wealth of features

"We were quite pleasantly surprised to find that Backup4all installed and worked well on the latest Vista release. While this is still a Beta Operating system, it is nice to see that this program seems to be Vista compatible and that it will even use the Vista Aero theme without difficulties."

Sofpedia pick

Rated excellent by Softpedia

"To be honest, I always say "I'll burn that backup folder someday this week" and the week passes without having my files backed up. With a program like Backup4all this issue can disappear, and the stress related to “what if my hard drive crashes” problem will disappear. I think that I'll leave the backup tasks for this program from now on. What about you?"

The Office Letter review

Backup4all is flexible

"You can’t be too careful about your data, and Backup4All does a good job using a well-designed interface, with plenty of bells and whistles for more experienced users. A "standard" version may be all you need if you don’t want e-mail notification or AES 128, 192, and 256-bit encryption."

Details

Backup4all can be configured to run a specific job/group when the flash drive is plugged in. When you connect the flash drive, the Autoplay window will appear asking you to choose an action. In order to automatically run the backup job without selecting any action, you need to install an USB autoplay application.

How to configure Backup4all Portable

These are the steps to follow:

  1. Open Backup4all
  2. Go to Tools->Options->Backup on demand
  3. Check the Enable "Plug and backup" support
  4. Select the backup job or backup group you want to execute.
  5. Choose what to display on backup.
  6. Press OK.

To be able to automatically run a backup job you also need to install a freeware application on your computer for
USB autorun. We suggest you to download the "APO USB autorun" from this link. You can also choose another similar application to do that.
APO is a simple, but very handy tool that automatically searches for the standard autorun.inf (as used with CDs) and executes it as soon as the USB drive is inserted.

How to run a specific job/group when you plug in the flash drive on Windows Vista, 2008

If you have Windows Vista or Windows 2008, you don't need any other application to automatically run the inf file from flash drive.

When you first plug in the flash drive, the Autoplay window will appear. You just need to select Run Backup4all and check the Always do this for software and games option. Next time you insert the flash drive, the backup will start automatically.

Applies to:

Backup4all 4 and later.
