This article explains how to backup the Bookmarks/Favorites folder for some of the most used Web browsers.

Each Web browser has a different location where the bookmarks are stored. In this article are presented some some of them.

How to backup Internet Explorer Favorites

If your web browser is Internet Explorer, the location for the favorite's folder is:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Current User>\Favorites\

Note: <Current User> is your Windows name account.

Steps needed to configure the backup:

  1. Open Backup4all and select File->New Backup Wizard (Ctrl+N).
  2. On the General page enter a name for the backup in the Name field.
  3. On the Sources page, add the favorite's folder. Click Next.
  4. On the Destination page, select a destination for the backup. Click Next.
  5. On the Type page, select the backup type.
  6. Click Finish.

How to backup Opera bookmarks

If your web browser is Opera, the location for the bookmarks is:

- For Opera 7:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Current User>\Application Data\Opera\Opera7\profile\opera6.adr

- For Opera 8 and Opera 9:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Current User>\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\opera6.adr

Note: <Current User> is your Windows name account.

Steps needed to configure the backup:

  1. Open Backup4all and select File->New Backup Wizard (Ctrl+N).
  2. On the General page enter a name for the backup in the Name field.
  3. On the Sources page, add the bookmark's folder. Click Next.
  4. On the Destination page, select a destination for the backup. Click Next.
  5. On the Type page, select the backup type.
  6. Click Finish.

How to backup Mozilla Firefox bookmarks

If your web browser is Mozilla Firefox, the location for the bookmarks is:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Current User>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\RANDOM STRING.default\bookmarks.html

Note: <Current User> is your Windows name account.

Steps needed to configure the backup:

  1. Open Backup4all and select File->New Backup Wizard (Ctrl+N).
  2. On the General page enter a name for the backup in the Name field.
  3. On the Sources page, add the bookmark's folder. Click Next.
  4. On the Destination page, select a destination for the backup. Click Next.
  5. On the Type page, select the backup type.
  6. Click Finish.

How to backup Netscape bookmarks

If your web browser is Netscape, the location for the bookmarks is:

C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\defaults\pref\browser-prefs.js

Steps needed to configure the backup:

  1. Open Backup4all and select File->New Backup Wizard (Ctrl+N).
  2. On the General page enter a name for the backup in the Name field.
  3. On the Sources page, add the bookmark's folder. Click Next.
  4. On the Destination page, select a destination for the backup. Click Next.
  5. On the Type page, select the backup type.
  6. Click Finish.
