"Backup4all is a full featured backup tool that allows you to define custom backup configurations to meet your personal needs. Setting up a backup configuration is made easy by the backup wizard that guides you through every step. Options include optional file filters (by attribute, date, size, name etc.) and a built-in scheduler to run your backups unattended. [...]"

"I now use Backup4all to do my day-to-day backup, and I recommend it for those who want a more automated solution. It uses its own file catalog to keep track of what's been backed up and when. That's the only completely reliable way to do it -- you can sometimes miss files with other methods.

Another safety feature -- all files and subfolders are included unless you expressly exclude them (by unchecking). This means that if new files or subfolders are added to a folder, the next backup will pick them up as well. Not all backup programs work this way. Once in a while you may not want to back up a file that has been added to a folder, and if you forget to exclude it, it will be backed up anyway. Better to have backed up and not meant to, than not to have backed up at all. [...]"

Backup4all review by Sallie Goetsch

"Between [the begining of the review] and this writing, Backup4All has gone from Version 2.3.0 to 2.3.1, so it’s clear the company is working hard to stay on top of bugs and continue to make improvements.
The website is easy to navigate, and visually appealing highlighting the product’s features and providing links to reviews, documentation, and even a newsletter and RSS feed to keep you up to date on improvements.

Backup4All has a cheerful, colorful interface.[...]
It also comes with very thorough documentation, a 108-page illustrated PDF file written in good English. Extensive help is also available via the Help menu or on the website. [...]
Features I particularly like are the ability to run programs either before or after making backups (so you can schedule a backup followed by a shutdown of the computer, for instance), the Test Backups function, and the reminder to label your CDs. [...]"

"Backup4all, by Softland, is a nifty backup utility that's also quite powerful. I found the program to have an intuitive interface and it was very easy-to-use. I think that makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. One excellent feature is a "wizard" that walks you through the entire process. Give your backup a name, pick all the folders you want to backup, pick individual files, and select other options for your backup depending on your preferences. For packing up files, the program creates ZIP format files. Depending on your needs you can either go for maximum compression of fastest time -- your pick. And, if you want, use a password to further protect you data. Again, the choice is up to you. [...]"

"I was recently toddling around the Net and found this little gem. It’s a wizard-driven backup utility that uses standard Zip compression to store files and is compatible with all versions of Windows (98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/Vista). I liked it within minutes of downloading it, and it has become my new backup tool. It performs Full and Incremental backups and enables you to restore any version of files. You can also use the powerful “File Filter” to filter the files you want to restore (even one, in fact).
[...] a big plus is how easy it is to use, the main reason I love this program is that it uses standard Zip compression. This means that your data is not at the mercy of the utility itself; you can access it with any Zip compatible utility. [...]"

"You are told to backup frequently and some actually do so. I recommend twice a day for a medium sized business, once a day for a small one, and at least once a week for a home user. Of course, keeping the backup disks in a different place than the computer is just smart. Microsoft has a built-in program – commercial ones are available all around the place – even simply copying some files to a floppy can work. However, the BACKUP 4 ALL program is so easy – so simple that even a skilled novice like me can run it very easily. [...]

If you try it on your old computer, you might want to put it on the new one once you get one. I asked the company how to do it, and their very quick response was to go the site, download and evaluation copy and then register it using the code given for the original program.

I also want to add that their customer support is great. I would email them in the evening and have an answer the next morning – a far cry from the support offered by most software companies. Well done, guys. [...]"

"Being a somewhat veteran PC user, I was accustomed to the bi-yearly or yearly hard drive crash or OS corruption that forced me to spend days or even weeks recovering my system. This resulted in unnecessary work and downtime in productivity. However, I never really felt it was necessary to find a backup solution. This was of course, changed when a few months ago my entire hard drive was corrupted and I lost access to all my data, movies and music. I started looking around for a good solution. One of these products was Backup4all Professional Edition. [...]

All in all, this is a good backup program, but mostly only suited in backing up your documents, files, and other non-system data. To back up your OS, you'll have to look for another solution.

"A few days ago a friend came by and was having problems with his laptop. The problems were all caused by viruses and lots of them. The only solution was to reformat the drive and reinstall Windows. Unfortunately my friend hadn't backed up any of the data. How many of you make regular backups? Sadly I'm afraid the number is fairly small. And those of you who do back up probably don't do it as often as you should. I've been guilty of both scenarios myself. After losing data on a couple of occasions, I did learn to back up. I had some good software and it still wasn't a very fun process. Recently I got a copy of Backup4All Pro and I think I've finally found a solution that makes backup relatively painless. [...]

In short, you can backup pretty much anything to pretty much any drive you wish. I was a bit skeptical at first, but this is by far the easiest backup utility I've ever used. And if you don't use a backup utility, it really isn't any good. Sound too good to be true? Try it yourself and you'll see how easy it really is to backup everything. When you decide it is right for you, the price is much less than the other "leading" backup utilities. Given the value of the data, it is a true bargain!

"We cannot stress backing up your computer enough these days. When you find a program that makes it as easy and convenient as Backup4all, there is no reason to put it off. Go to http://www.backup4all.com and view this program yourself. It’s a very nice program to use and very easy to navigate.

I received the Professional edition for review. On the website is a list of what is available in each edition. There are three editions Mirror, Classic and Professional. You do not have to buy the functionality that you do not need. Just click on “Feature Matrix” on the website to see the differences. [...]

I really like this program and can recommend it to all. It is not expensive for what you receive. The three optional programs run in price from $25.00 to $45.00.

"This backup utility helps you define customized backup configurations. You can use it to protect your valuable data from total or partial loss. Using the wizard, setting up a backup configuration is easy. It allows you to setup powerful file filters and schedulers. You can set up multiple backups and schedule them any way you like. Once a backup is performed, you can see what files have been changed since the last backup using the tree view mode or you can read the statistics for the next backup execution. You can use the context menu from the tree mode to launch any custom action associated with the file type. [...]"
