Details
A backup job, backup group or “one touch backup” can be scheduled from the Schedulers window of Backup4all (or for a backup job by right-clicking, selecting Properties->Scheduler). The Schedulers window lists all the available information about the scheduled backup jobs and allows you to Add, Edit, Delete and Schedule new backups.
Note: By default Backup4all uses the Windows Scheduler. To add or to modify a scheduled job you have to enter the password for the currently logged-in user. This is not required if you're using Backup4all's Standalone Scheduler. This password is required by Windows Task Scheduler to run the scheduled backup job even if there is no users logged in, or if the computer is in hibernation or stand by mode.
How to schedule an existing backup job, backup group or “one touch backup”
To schedule an existing backup job, backup group or “one touch backup” using the Windows Scheduler, the Windows login password is required. If you don't have a Windows login password, please go to: Tools->Options->General. You must set (check) the Allow blank passwords when scheduling option.
Steps to follow when scheduling an existing backup job, backup group or “one touch backup”:
- Open Backup4all, press the Scheduler (F11) button.
- In the Schedulers window, click on the Add button. The Schedule Job window will open.
- In the Execute backup using section choose between the Main application and the Command line application to be displayed when running the backup (default is Main application).
- In the Run section you can select between a backup job, a backup group and one touch backup.
Note: For a backup job:
- you can select the operation to perform when scheduled, from the Action drop-down list.
- Default, Full, Differential
, Incremental
when the scheduler starts, this is the type of the backup that will be performed.
- Test to do a test operation when the scheduler is started. You can type here the backup numbers you want to test. The order you type them in is the order they will be tested.
- you can set the Clear backup before run option. Backup4all will first delete the ".bkc
" file and all zip files associated with the current backup job and after that execute the scheduled task.
- In the Scheduler section, you can select one of these options:
- Use Windows Scheduler to be able to run the backup even if no user is logged in. If you select this option you have to click on the Set password button and type your Windows login password in the new opened window.
- Use standalone scheduler: the current user has to be logged on for the scheduler to be executed.
- Run at system shutdown: the backup will run when the shutdown message is detected.

- Press Ok. The Schedule window will open.
- From the Schedule Task drop-down list, you can select the frequency for backup.
- In the Start time field, can be selected the time when the backup will run. Press Ok.

How to schedule a backup job, backup group or “one touch backup” to run at system shutdown
A backup job, backup group or “one touch backup” can be scheduled to be executed when the shutdown command is initiated. Backup4all intercepts the shutdown message and there is no way to know if a restart or a shutdown was requested. This is why it will always shutdown your computer after the backup is executed.
Steps to follow when scheduling a backup job to run at system shutdown:
- Open Backup4all, go to the Backup Properties (Ctrl+P)
- On the Scheduler page, click on the Add button. The Scheduled job page will open.
- In the Execute backup using section you can choose between the Main application and the Command line application to be displayed when starting the backup.
- You can also set (check) the option to Clear backup before run.
- In the Scheduler section, select the Run at system shutdown option.
- Press Ok.
- Press Save.
