Definition: A disk backup is a backup of entire contents of a hard drive. It also may mean creating an image of the whole disk with the backup purpose. Storing backup to disk is a good way to prevent data from accidental destruction caused by user mistake or hard drive failure. Backups on CDs/DVDs/Blu-rays are compact, reliable and transportable, which makes them very popular among all kinds of users.
