Backup4all 4 (final) was released

The final version of Backup4all 4 was released.

Compared to the previous major version (v3), Backup4all 4 introduces several new features, fixes and enhancements, such as:

New: Completely rewritten to allow backing up large number of files and folders with moderate resource usage
New: Option to archive and encrypt files individually when using mirror backup
New: Backup can now be paused/resumed/stopped
New: Backup/Restore/Test/Cleanup history
New: Automatic updates
New: Back up empty folders
New: The new version has a redesigned interface with a new Backup Properties section.
New: “Getting Started” window with shortcuts to main operations
New: NTFS permissions and alternate streams are now copied in mirror backups
New: Additional views: Backup View and Brief View
New: Option to password protect program interface
New: Set memory usage for backing up
New: Create and use predefined filters
New: Limit the number of file versions
New: MSI setup for automatic deployment
New: Added new views for the backup groups/jobs in the backup list
New: Search as-you-type for backup jobs/groups in backup list

New: Multiple files/folders can be selected in Sources folder tree in New Backup Wizard and Backup Properties

Update: List the file paths from destination in the test log
Update: Mirror backup: if a source drive is not available (network share, usb stick, ...) then the files from that drive are not excluded from backup

Backup4all 4 BETA 3 was released

Backup4all 4 Beta 3 was released. This version is intended only for testing purposes, not for production use.

This third beta release of Backup4all 4 introduces several fixes and enhancements, such as:

Trial period extended with 30 more days
File paths from destination are listed in the test log
Mirror backup: if a source drive is not available (network share, usb stick, ...) then the files from that drive are not excluded from backup
Scheduler: "Abort backup when network sources are not available" option applies to all types of sources
Fixed: Pause backup during file splitting did not work properly
Fixed: Wrong error message generated when adding the same plugin twice
Fixed: Save the layout of the Backup View
Fixed: Backup execution status was not changed when warnings or errors occured during Test
Fixed: Bkc file was not deleted from the catalog folder if a job was deleted from interface
Fixed: Legacy comparison criteria didn't work
Fixed: Log folder limit did not work properly
Fixed: Allow commas in the job and group names
Fixed: Check for updates did not run at startup

Users of Backup4all 4 Beta 3 are encouraged to report any bugs, issues or errors at support@backup4all.com.

Notice to Backup4all 3 users: Backup4all 4 Beta 3 will be installed separately so your other version will not be affected (as long as you don't import the backup jobs into Backup4all 4). Users that bought Backup4all 3 after July 1, 2008, will receive a free upgrade to version 4 of the purchased edition.

The public beta release of Backup4all 4 is now ready for testing. This version is intended only for testing purposes, not for production use.

Option added to make Backup4all’s settings available for current user/all users
New parameters for command line installation: CURRENTUSER, SETTINGSFOLDER

All settings are now kept in .ini files (were stored in registry before)
Fixed: CRC checking and independent splits corrections

New interface languages added

Backup4all is now localized in: German, Swedish, Norwegian, Chinese Traditional and Turkish. Download the latest version of Backup4all from here: Backup4all 3.0.197 During installation you will be able to select the desired language for Backup4all.
